What is end of Life Planning?

Who knows the details of how your home works? What would people need to know if something happened to you? Think how helpful a file of this info would be in all sorts of situations!

How many financial accounts do you have? Who knows about them? Without giving specifics, if you don't at least have a list of your bank accounts, insurances, pensions etc, your family could lose out when you're gone. Believe me, even with account numbers, this can be a challenging thing to deal with!

Many of us know we need a will... not as many of us have one! But this is the minimum to protect your assets and make sure they go to the people you want when you are gone. Lasting Powers of Attorney? Advance Directives? If you know, you know - if you don't, talk to me!

Who knows what you want as you come to the end of your life? Even if you do have a Lasting Power of Attorney in place, if isn't much good if your attorneys don't know the decisions they're supposed to be making on your behalf! I promise that talking about death doesn't make it happen.... but talking about death can make things a lot less difficult for those we leave behind.

The elephant in the room is that you will die (sorry!) I can pretty much promise that nothing your loved ones know about your wishes will upset them, but the things they don't know will. Make things easier for them, think about your wishes and put them in writing - they will only thank you for the kindness. Think about whether you want a burial or cremation, do you have a preferred funeral director or cemetery in mind? Far better your loved ones know....
